Notes: Based on a wheat ale, our variation of this unusual product of Belgian origins is made with pale and wheat malts, Fuggles and cascade hops. It is fermented with a mixed strain yeast culture and abundance of black Bing cherries to produce a slightly tart and refreshing fruit character. Unfiltered and naturally aged for at least 1 1/2 months.

by far the best beer happening at the suds. its got a red tinted brown color, quite dark for the style. minimal off white head, stained pink. the nose has a lot of black cherry to it, like a huge dose of concentrated fruit syrup was added to a basic wheat beer. I smell no malt, hops, or yeast. the flavor is more candy-like, artificial but not offensive. I actually like the darker grain flavors with the cherry, as robust as it is. some more hops to finish this one would help. not sure why they are calling this a lambic, I don't think it fits that bill in process or taste, but the end result is passable. okay carbonation, a little light perhaps, especially with the fuller body. im missing the main elements that make this beer, but whatever black cherry substance they used to flavor it, I don't mind.

The beer pours a dark ruby red color with a thick frothy white/pink head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is good. It has a rich black cherry scent that is a bit sour. The taste is decent. It has a cough syrup flavor that is rich on black cherries. It goes down easy and finishes sour. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a medium bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a decent drinking beer. I like the sour cherry flavor, but the black cherries are a bit too rich.

This is one of the more unique mircobrews I've tried and one of my favorites. Though not a true lambic, it's delicious. It pours a dark brown/red/purple color which looks great. The head is a little weak but the nose is great. The blend of the black cherry with the lambic and weizen taste is pretty well balanced. It has that lambic sourness that goes well with the black cherries but the weizen keeps it in check and drinkable for people other than beer-snobs. Again, one of my favorite mircobrews because of the uniqueness and something I definitely would like to try and brew at home as a homebrewer. I will forever always start a night at Syracuse Suds with one of these. Cheers! -Al

EDIT: Tasted this again for the first time in a few years and it tasted more like Black Cherry Soda meets a Pale Ale. Good for non-beer drinkers. I will always get a pint of this to start with, but will reach for the Sweet Stout or Pale Ale after that.
