A drinkable ebony brew, warming the frigid days like a ray of black sunshine. Loaded with caramel, chocolate and roasted coffee flavors, Oharov's bold aggressiveness quickly finishes smooth, dry, and crisp.

2013 Oharov on tap at Super Deli Mart. Powerful beer, full of flavor, with aroma to match. It's very roasty, just slightly tart, and no noticeable sweetness. There are coffee and cocoa notes, but it is neither a coffee nor a cocoa stout. It almost seems as if it's barrel aged, it's that strong, but it's not. Good stuff ... look for it!

I had this on-tap in a pint glass at Hillside Bar in Seattle.
Appearance: totally black with a finger of nice creamy tan foam atop. A perfectly reasonable imperial stout.
Smell: lightly sweet but somewhat syrupy. There's a good chocolatey, roasty aroma with a hint of dark fruit adding a touch of complexity. Very nice.
Taste: roasty but sweet, it's a little syrupy. There's a hint of licorice which adds a nice complexity as well; I dig it.
Mouthfeel: rich body with a silky smooth texture and a great carbonation and creaminess. Absolutely wonderful.
Overall: this beer has truly an excellent texture, but it doesn't offer as much flavor complexity as a world-class stout. It's still a delicious beer, though.
