Pint had at Community Pint in Spokane, WA.
Good looking beer. Blackish, dark brown, with a big, creamy and rocky head that stuck around for a bit.
A fairly restrained citrusy hop aroma, coupled with a sweet, light cocoa aroma from the dark malts.
This tasted like a roasty brown ale with a moderate amount of hops. Certainly, this was nowhere near as hoppy as I expected. It is also super easy drinking for something so relatively high in alcohol.
Medium bodied, with a slightly oily mouthfeel.
Way different than I expected, but I liked it. Most CDAs I've had either taste like agressively hoppy stouts or IPAs with a modest, dark malt backbone. This one, the maltiness was more like an especially characterful brown ale, with a decent but not big hop bite. Surprisingly subtle except for the abv.
