a lighter almost session version of their iconic ipa, which is downright drinkable enough for me most of the time, but i appreciate what appears to be a slow return toward the more sessionable abv ranges being in style, always enjoy high volume drinking. anyway this is golden, real light blonde from the tap, glowing in the glass under its airy inch of white head. it smells familiar, but way less bitter, oily, and quintessentially northwestern than the original, but also still hoppy as heck, and not really a sacrifice in any way, a little more tropical mosaic character to me here, a faint candied thing to it up front, and a light pine bite on the back end, still layered and interesting in terms of the hops, and its not too light or thinned out, just a little lesser in body and perhaps a tad drier, but im not missing malt here. more and more bitterness rises up as this warms, and it ends up even kind of intense toward the bottom of my glass, dont mind it at all, this definitely isnt a pale ale or anything. i like this overall, its active and clean and bold, but hits a bit easier than the original, a fine addition to their lineup, i am curious if this will end up in cans or not, seems maybe risky like it could detract from bodhizafa sales, but the beer really does work. well done as always from these guys.
