What makes a beer imperial? Probably the fact that we spent a king's ransom brewing it. Lovely Reida is brewed with almost twice as much malt and ten times as much hops as would be used in a "regular" brew of this size.

Light foamy head, nice lacing, clear but dark ruby maroon color.
Nose big fruity hops, mild tropical but citrus, nice generic fruity hops, mild candied apricot like stone fruit, sweet candy reddish malts, touch spicy hops, hint tropical and berry.
Taste brings sweet toffee, caramel candy malts, syrupy, candy toffee, some booze, with sweetness mild citrus, candied orange peel, sticky hop resin, pine notes, big bitterness mixed with big sweetness, what used to be called east coast style now seems to be a west coast style. Finish is drier, a little booze, candied orange peel, caramel toffee, bitter rind, mild alcohol.
Mouth is med to heavier bod, decent carb, mild alc warmth.
Overall how is this rated so high?! It's decent, but not very good, bleh and unfinishable even.

On Tap at Capones bar and grill in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. They only pour 12/16oz due to the higher abv. I had a 12oz poured into a European style 12oz pint glass.
A: Dark, reddish tint, very clear though. Very lovely looking beer hence the name. Head dissapates quickly leaving spotty lacing on the glass, not much lacing at all though probably due to the high alcohol, leaves decent legging regardless.
S: HOPS, hops and more hops, sweet, fruity, you can faintly smell the alcohol, I get quite a bit of floral, the hops really overpower a lot of the smell on this but it is a fantastic smelling beer.
T: Bitter, and this is coming from a Stone drinker, this beer hits you, warming in the chest comes after about 1/4 of the beer gone, you can taste the alcohol but the bitterness and freshness of this beer is too good. The weird thing is this is a very drinkable beer being 10%. I'm drinking it with some sweet hot wings and so far it pairs pretty well, usually I would order something a lot lighter and this probably isn't the best with spicy food unless your in for the night. This beer creeps up and halfway through you start to feel a head buzz. Very delicious beer though.
M: Full bodied DIPA for sure, the hoppy bitterness bites your tongue on this one, it goes down very smooth and with the high alcohol it warms fast. Drink this fast if you prefer it cold, I'm on my last 4th of it and it's starting to warm and I'm getting a lot of alcohol burn and taste. This is a huge beer guys. I think the highest ipa I've ever had besides this was a stone one and it was 9.4 or their 17th anniversary which was 9 or so (haven't had ruinten yet).
O: The lovely reida is lovely. This is a very big, very hoppy double ipa, a 12oz pour has got me feeling tipsy and good, granted its also paired with my first meal of the day but this is a good beer. I could drink a bomber of this and be set for the night. This isn't really a sessionable beer I mean it could be cause it's drinkable but after a 6 pack of this your for sure to be probably blacked out. A great beer for hoppy ipa lovers. If you get the chance to try it do it you won't be disappointed.
I'm gonna give it a 9/10.
