Genova 26/7 2024. 75 cl clunky glass bottle from Squillari Enoteca, Via Ettore Vernazza, Genova. Simple and small off-white label with a brown symbol which resembles an compas.
Pours opaque dark brown with a big creamy and fluffy off-white head. Settles as 2 cm thick layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Crawling up the sides of the glass. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet and roasted malty odor mingling with bitter dark chocolate and dark alcohol. Dark roasted malts with a hint of coffee and chocolate. Whiff of raisins and plums. Dark rum.
Light carbonation. Medium thick, oily, soft, smooth, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is fairly intense with a strong sweetness followed by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with a sweet undertone. Hides the alcohol quite well. Lingers for a while. Finish is rather dry.
Light and easily drinkable dark beer from Friuli.
