Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a lightly hazy, orange brown with a one finger light khaki head that dissipates to a thick film with nice lacing. Aroma of candi malt, figs, a hint of oaky vanilla and bourbon, a bit tart. Flavor is grainy malt, tart plums, slight fig and bretty yeast, finishes quite tart. Medium bodied with light creaminess. I had a little trepidation over this one, wondering how tart it was, and it is a little too tart for my palate. There are nice fruit and barreling flavors, but sadly, I would have enjoyed them more in a more traditional BSDA base. I think this would be appealing to those who like tart Belgain aged ales so hopefully my review won't scare anyone off.
