16oz tallboy purchased at Community Pint, in Spokane, Washington, for $6.49. According to the stamp on the bottom of the can, which also says "Gone Fishin'", this was canned on November 2, 2020. According to the can label, it's a "quintuple dry-hopped double India Pale Ale." Here's more from Trap Door's website:
"So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish
IPA - Imperial / Double
8.2% ABV Trap Door Brewing Vancouver, WA
Brewed by Zane as his send off beer, he went all in with Mosaic, Galaxy, Nelson and Citra to create this behemoth of a DIPA. Clocking in around 7 lb/bbl Dry hop and over 9 lb/bbl total hop use, it is sure to please the biggest of hop heads. One of those beers you can smell from 5 feet away. Huge notes of overripe orange and mango lead the way with the dankity, dank backing it all up. You can really taste the hops full on, fresh hop with a cacophony of fruit assaulting your senses (in a good way)."
Poured into a shaker style pint glass, this was an opaque, yellowy shade of amber, with a good-sized off-white head. Said head left "beer neglige" style lace.
Massive, sweet tropical fruit blast in the nose. This does not smell like a subtle beer.
A little more citrusy in the taste. Big sweet Mango and pineapple up front, but then a more bitter orange like flavor kicks in. Very slightly dry at the finish. A bit more alcohol "heat" than I care for in an IPA.
Somewhat full-bodied as IPAs go. Mouthfeel is an odd mixture between the hazy and non-hazy styles. It's kinda soft but still quite resiny.
Not a bad beer but not really what I look for.
