The appearance was a black color with a half finger’s worth of tan foamy head that fell off fairly quick. Some stringy lace, but that slides. The aroma had some roasted malts, milk chocolate, dark chocolate and some dark fruits. Ends with a little bit of earthy spice. The flavor blended the sweet to the roast fairly nice and leads into the aftertaste. Finish was quick and roasty. The feel was about medium bodied. Carbonation felt good. ABV felt good as well. Pretty smooth along my tongue. Overall, pretty nice imperial stout that I could have again.

Consuming a cold 32 oz growler poured into a snifter. My growler says 7.8% not the 10.5% here on the site, not sure which is accurate. The beer pours a jet black color with no light passing through my glass. There is minimal creamy tan head that fades quickly to a clingy edge layer. Wish the foam had stuck around a little longer. The aroma is rich and malty with brown sugar, rich cacao notes and a bit of coffee ground. A little bit of booze shows up here to let me know this is a bigger beer.
First sip reveals a silky smooth texture with very fine gentle rolling carbonation. Body is fairly thick and robust as it coats my palate.
Flavor is a bit of sweet chocolate and some rich roasted notes. A bit of coffee ground on the finish that lingers with just a bit of bitterness, not from hops, which are nowhere to be found in this beer. I find the beer easy to drink even with its thicker body. The flavor is nice and roasty for an Imperial stout. Glad to have sampled this beer from a new brewery in Connecticut. Seems to be worth the trip to Old Saybrook!

L. Very, very dark; almost black. Minimal head.
S Dark roast coffèe with hint of hot chocolate.
T Lots of deep roast espresso. Lingering bittersweet chocolate that stays until the next sip.
F Coats the tongue with that deep flavor.

Even after the growler was open 4 days, it was still great.
