Pours a golden bronze with a two finger head. Aroma is a bit mixed -- detecting malt, caramel and toasted bread. Taste is very much rye, through and through. Mouthfeel is a bit less than expected and carbonation is low. The resemblance to an amber ale is quite deserved.

Copper body with coarse carbonation, head fades quickly. Toasty malt, bread crust, caramel on the nose- a unilateral presentation. Same bready, malty flavor profile, with a touch of balancing hop bitterness. I'm not getting any rye spiciness, not even boosted from the hops, just toasty malt and its odd sweetness. The body is light and fluid, with prickly carbonation.
This would be a solid amber ale, which is a bit pedestrian for my taste anyway, but the promise of rye and it's complexity and then its absence in the experience let me down.
