Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque in the glass with a half finger khaki head that slowly dissipates to patches with nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, peanut butter, cocoa and graham cracker; inviting. Flavor follows, with dark toasted malt, peanut butter and cocoa; slight hop bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A pleasant peanut butter and cocoa stout. Although cocoa nibs are noted on the can, there is no mention of peanut butter, but it must be an adjunct because the peanut flavor is notable and authentic. Although the description suggests a cookie based dessert stout, the taste is actually fairly dry and exactly what I like in this style of stout. The flavor thins out a bit before the finish, but leaves a fine, lingering peanut butter and chocolate taste. Nicely done.

Medium body.
Extremely solid peanut butter milk stout!

 

August 12th, 2016 - The Bear Cookie is indeed best served as a dessert. From start to finish, it's a Nutter Butter in a beer and a cup. Like, the cookie is perfectly duplicated here. If you want to know what this tastes like, hit a gas station, grab a Nutter Butter and imagine that with a bit of carbonation and alcohol.
