Olhão 15/7 2016. 75 cl bottle from Lidl. A special edition (Selecção) named after the founding year of the Super Bock brand.

Pours slightly hazy amber with a big white head. Stable. Settles as a 1 cm thick layer of creamy foam covering the surface of the beer. Substantial lacing at the side of the glass.

Aroma of fermented exotic fruit. Sweet mango, peach and pineapple with a nice twist of fermented decay. Sour citric notes.

Soft carbonation and slightly thick palate. Almost flat texture.

Flavor has a light sweetness followed by a medium strong bitterness. Had expected a more prominent bitterness from this.

Looks and smells fantastic - but a little bit disappointed by the taste. An altogether pleasant piece of decent IPA - especially if you compare it to the Super Bock beers on sale in Pastelarias and minimarkets.

L: brilliant amber body; persistent foamy beige head
S: bread crust, caramelized grain, earthy/piney hops
T: bitter & earthy pine resin, caramel, bread crust, stone fruit
F: medium body, very resinous, ample carbonation, pungently bitter & dry finish
O: drinks more like an English IPA, but has some good flavors regardless of the style

enjoying at faro airport, went for my flight very early in anticipation of big queues, of course, there is no one at the airport, and i’m here so early i can’t even check my bag in, thankfully there’s a bar in departures. this beer is fine, defitnley more on the amber than ipa side, brown bread malt, caramel, oak, citrus fruit, pretty floral, medium levels of bitterness, medium in body and medium levels of carbonation, probably the best of super bock’s fancier offerings

Amber reddish color with a thick head with good retention.
Aroma with notes of caramel and generic citrusy.
Flavor with notes of caramel, grapefruit, slightly toasted malts, some pine and flowers. Dry aftertaste with a mild bitterness.
Light towards medium body with appropriate carbonation.
Balanced and traditional mild English IPA.

On tap in The Azores.

White head. Amber copper color.

Doesn’t really taste like an ipa. More of an Amber. Caramel, toffee, bready malts, earthy/floral hops. A touch of sweetness with a small amount of bitterness.

Bottle: Poured a light amber color ale with an off-white foamy head with OK retention and light lacing. Aroma of dry earthy and citrusy hops notes with light caramel malt. Taste is a mix of light hoppy notes of citrusy with some earthy flavours with a dry caramel malt base and a watery finish. Body is light with good carbonation. Not flaws but a bit weak for an IPA.
