Review based on the BJCP2008 guidelines (style 4C - Schwarzbier). Bottle 33 cl - Batch L2617S43. AROMA: clean lager background with mild sweetness and roasted notes with almost burnt character. APPEARANCE: very dark color and almost opaque. dark ivory head with low retention. TASTE: light malt flavour with light roasted notes. low bitterness with an aftertaste that dries out through time. some residual sweetness. clean lager profile. PALATE: light body with moderate carbonation. OVERALL: a schwarzbier that lacks body and some bitterness. it could also drop the food coloring.

Poured into a Pokal. Best before date: 10/2009. Served at cellaring temperature.
Appearance: Pours a three thinger white head. Beje head. Brew is dark mahogany. Translucent brew. Very mild lacing.
Smell: Surprisngly pleasant. Medium strength. Coffee and caramel malt complexity. Slightly adjuncty character on the nose.
Taste: Medium to medium low strength. Chocolate and coffee with underlying caramel. Noticeable adjunct character. No hope character. Medium to medium low carbonation. Low bitterness. Finishes clean. Watery texture. sligh Smokiness.
Drinkability: Adjuncty and clean. Although accessible it lacks a bit of everything that makes people want to drink more.

Cristal Preta is the second runner bland of Unicer and is sold with a lower price than the company main product (Superbock).
Appearance: clear with a deep amber color. Beige frothy head with a moderately low size that seldom persists (some lacing though).
Aroma: roasted malt aroma.
Taste: confirms the aroma with some toffee notes.
Mouthfeel: dry, strong carbonation, low alcoholic strength and a thin body.
Finish: slightly bitter and kind of short.
Overall: watery, not offensive but not worthwhile. Probably my last one.
