Dunagan Brewing Co.

A nice Irish style micro brewery and brew pub in downtown tacoma, WA. Rated as on of the top 10 breweries in the greater tacoma area. Makes irish and British style beers with a west coast twist. All of their beers are small batch and organic. This is a one man show. Jesse has been the owner, brewer, and only full time employee for over three years now. His service and bar are second to none. The beer is great and just keeps getting better.

First time to this (relatively) new brewery. I will have to try it again, and some different beers next time. Honestly, friends had gone soon after it's opening and literally said "don't go" and "beer is not good" so decided I'd go myself on a quiet evening.

Sad to say I had perhaps the first beer I have ever considered unprintable...I seriously questioned my own palate as I tried to quaff it and simply could not. Luckily, the very nice owner offered to replace it. FYI, it was their only IPA on tap, a session with Simcoe hops, I think 5.7% or so and very lightly hopped. Had a replacement of the rye porter, which was better and drinkable, but with the same sour aftertaste. Not sure...bad yeast perhaps? Or, I just have no palate match at all for their beers...certainly a possibility.

Reason for the reviews? IPA was the worst I've ever had...I even asked if it was intentionally made as a sour. The rest of my review is very fair...I have been to many, many breweries/tap rooms in the US and abroad. Some places just don't get it done...hoping they can improve or perhaps I'm just not gonna be their typical customer and others like the beer. Love their drive and desire to build a brewery...the products I tried? Not so much unfortunately.
