Poured into a Fremont small snifter. From notes on my August, 2015 trip to Delaware.
Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass with a thin brown head that dissipates to patches and a ring around the glass with light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted and biscuit malt and milk chocolate; simple, but pleasant. Flavor is dark toasted malt with a light char, dark and milk chocolate, slight caramel and vanilla. Finishes with semi-sweet dark malt and light hop bitterness. Medium bodied with slight creaminess and sharp carbonation. A straightforward middle weight imperial stout with a nice balance of malt and light chocolate flavors and good mild char and hops in the finish. Somewhat light in body for an imperial stout. Mellow and somewhat understated; the flavor indicates that with a little depth, this could be a fine imperial stout. Despite the lighter than expected flavor, I enjoyed this quite a bit and the lingering aftertaste is fine.
