22 oz. bottle with no bottling date...not good. Could be from 2016 for all I know. Split with my wife.
The pour is darker amber, almost coppery, with plenty of visible life to it. The nose is mostly caramel malt with a touch of danker hops on the side. Pretty tame.
Sturdy Gertie: don't buy IPAs without dates on them, kids. Tastes like a IIPA that someone forgot to throw 3/4 of the hops into. Lots of sweet, caramel-style malt dancing to the tune of an underpowered motor of hops, lending some harsh bitterness to the mix, but nothing else. Mouthfeel is fine, but I suspect that at the end of the evening, less than 11 oz. of this will have passed my lips. Just not good enough destroy that many liver cells.
This is either pretty poor or pretty old, & either way, it's on the brewery. Since I'm not local they won't hurt for missing any future business of mine, but this is a big let down in a city with so many fine hop options.
