Surprising for a lager this beer had a slightly hazy gold appearance, medium foam stand of pure white foam.
S- Rough yeasty aroma, no esters, no hop aroma.
T- Soft medium malt, then big Sazz flavor. Very floral hop flavor . . . finishes clean.
M- Light bodied, dry finish
D- Highly drinkable, not too interesting though.
I like the guys at Baron Brewing and appreciate their effort to make German style lagers. I know they are using quality imported ingredients but I still feel like I am drinking an American version of a German beer - no a German beer. With time I hope that they can fool me completely.

Appearance This one is a pristine crystal clear yellow in color. I mean, it is absolutely brilliant. I controlled the big, pure white head at the pour but when the owner poured his and left it for 10 minutes the head had gone down very little and left huge chunks of lacing on the inside of his weizen glass.
Smell This is straight grain. Theres no sweetness at all to it. The brewer uses Pilsner Malts and boy does it smell like it. Theres a light hop balance to keep things honest but basically this is straight, commercial-grade, lagered malts.
Taste Oh, man is this good. The reason that this flavor is so terrific is because it is so simple. Other than a mild grassy hop balance this is pure, unadulterated lagered grain.
Mouthfeel This is on the lighter side for a MHL, Id say just a hair above light-bodied, with a perfect tingly carbonation and an ultra-smooth consistency in the mouth. Holding this beer in between the cheeks for 30 seconds or so is one of the greatest joys life has to give.
Drinkability The lager style done correctly, I believe, is one of the most drinkable beers on the planet. This one is light-bodied, low-ABV, very crisp and clean, and causes one to redefine their idea of session ale. This is the link Im posting to all of those, If you were stuck on an island with a case of beer . . . posts.
Comments Talk about cool. Skyhand and I are sitting in this brewery, which is a rented slot of concrete-floored storage space in a business park, drinking Lager with the owner/brewer like theres nothing else in the world going on. It really reminded me of all those times in Germany when I walked into the local beer store to pick up a case and left six hours later three sheets to the wind. We only did a little tasting, mind you, but when you get the opportunity to share great beer with great people the rest of the world just seems to disappear.
