Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a very dark red brown. Thin off-white head dissipated instantly to a thin ring around the glass. Light nutty aroma of toasted malt with an unfortunate faint vegetable aroma. Flavor starts with toasted malt, but quickly changes to a sour two day old coffee flavor and bitterness. Finished bitter and sour. Light bodied and not pleasant to drink. I couldn't finish this one. I hope this was a bad bottle, but I won't try this again unless I see evidence that this was the case.

I'm not sure if this is the same beer as the Schwarzbier listed under the Baron Brewing name, if it is please combine the entries.

Served in bubble pint glass. Poured a lightly translucent reddish-dark brown with an inch of off-white head that had OK retention and lacing.

The aroma had a nice roasty scent, backed up by some grain and some balanced hoppping in the background. The flavors were pretty much the same, sharp roast, nice grains, even hops.

The body was nice and crisp, it was a well-rounded and smooth brew. Drinkability was very good, I could easily drink several of these on an afternoon. Overall, a nice beer that's certainly worth your time when you see it.
