unfortunately they present the beer as an afterthought to the wine in here, and it tasted that way too. on tap in the back, out of sight, barely a mention of the beer in their taproom on this gorgeous campus at the top of the hill, i was disappointed with the treatment of the beer here as much as with the beer itself, which is saying something, because this certainly was a let down. i was ready to appreciate anything too, a pint in a sunny window with a view, a good book, and all the time in the world to enjoy it, so it really is remarkable that this was almost jolting it was so off. whack on the fermentation side, dirty bucket type of thing, chemical, solvent, cleaner, detergent, smells and tastes almost toxic, not a bacterial infection to me, but an obvious flaw in the yeast profile, that much is for sure. some sweetness through it from the grain, actually pretty nice carbonation and texture, and some citrus character as well, the makings of a fine or even better than average blonde are all here, but the ferment is rough, and i struggle to drink this whole thing, even in such a nice setting. it grew on me, but was shocking on the first few sips, totally amateur, and doesnt inspire a lot of hope for their others. i hope it was a bad batch for their sake...
