330 ml bottle purchased from Fortinos for around $5 CDN. Served cold into a chalice.
Appearance - Mildly hazy golden hued brew. Small cap of head is poured but fizzles out in 30 seconds. Some nice effervescence in the beer.
Smell - yeasty, with hint of grain, ginger and a touch of lemongrass and citrus. Pretty good and inviting stuff.
Taste - Quite assertively bitter initially with some yeasty flavors then strongly into a muted lemon flavor adding bitterness. The ginger shows up here and there as a spicy accent.
Mouthfeel - Fairly light carbonation, incredibly dry (too much so) and the body overall is reasonably light.
Overall - An interesting and well conceived beer sure, the dryness even for the style is a bit much and I can't see enjoying more than one in a go. Nevertheless, well thought out and with a few minor tweaks this could become very stellar.
