Doops brought this one home from AZ this past summer. Cheers, man!

Brewed for Ground Control’s 10th Anniversary
Imperial Stout brewed with maple syrup and coffee
APPEARANCE: Pours out dark brown and yields a 1+ finger, medium looking, slightly creamy tan head with great retention. Black body with no carbonation evident. Head slowly fades to a full wisp. A splotchy cap remains leaving touches of lacing down the glass.
SMELL: Roasted grains, some ashy notes, burnt coffee, maple syrup with notes of vanilla, sweet cream and milk chocolate. Hints of hazelnuts in there as well. Medium strength.
TASTE: Sweet syrup, roasted and burnt grains with some ashy flavors, toffee sweetness and notes of burnt coffee up front. Some alcohol at the swallow with a bolder finish of burnt coffee, notes of ash, sweet toffee, cream, maple and some alcohol.
PALATE: Medium body and a touch lower carbonation. Silky and sticky on the palate, goes down slick with a burn and finishes sticky. Some heat lingers.
OVERALL: A solid offering from Dark Star. The base imperial stout is quite nicely done though the maple syrup isn’t all that maple-like and the burnt character could be a little more restrained. According to those involved this was (somewhat obviously) heavily inspired by Toppling Goliath’s Morning Delight. While this is not as decadent as its forerunner, it is still an enjoyable brew on it’s own right. Well worth checking out if you get the chance. Thanks again for sharing, doops! Good stuff.
