Another offering brought by leftpaw to a family gathering at the end of 2023. Cool label, baseball!
Pours a brown color. Doesn't display a sexiness, doesn't hold a head. Aroma displays a nice amount of maris otter and whiskey/barrel with toffee drizzled all over it. Its really just those 3 aspects in the nose, and its probably the most enjoyable of the 5 rated aspects even if one is a sum of the parts (overall).
The taste is surprisingly less sweet than I imagined, its like a bourbon level lack of sweetness, but without that charred barrel. The toffee character is consistent and large in the margin. Mouthfeel has all the double digit boozy heat you could want, binding with a degree of bitterness usually reserved for its American barleywine brethren. I remember when this popped big for barleywine is life. Man that was funny how something so popular generating content could be jettisoned, but then again, one of so many lessons learned hopefully. Anyways, respect Next Glass!

L: Pours a dark brown black color with a small tan head and no lacing on the glass.
S: Lots of sweet caramel, strong notes of bourbon, vanilla and and hints of chocolate. This one smells great!
T: A nice hazelnut starts, followed by caramel and brown sugar and some notes of bourbon and vanilla. The booze is strong in this one.
F: Large body, smooth creamy carbonation.
O: This is a fantastic barleywine!
