Picked this up a few weeks back as I found this up at Gary's in Wayne. Never heard of Front Porch before and this was a decent introduction to them as it was a typical New England IPA that was a notch or two below those that tend to come from New England itself.

This had a typical look for the style as it was muddled, dark, and an off gold that let very little light in around the edges. The head that topped it off was thick, even, and slow to settle down as the lacing left behind was in the form of a thick ring near the top with a fair amount of soapy splotches along the bottom half of my pint glass. Lots of melon, white grape, and some potpourri in the nose as a bit of sticky mango, papaya, and jack fruit entered into the fray once I took a few sips. Dank, sticky, and turbid, there were hints of deep pine forest and swamp water underneath everything as I wish this had a tad more sweetness to balance everything out. The Vic Secret and Azacca were used in good proportion here but the malt was basic and carbonation was too light to take the edge off of this brew.

There was enough booze present too which warmed me up nicely and was easily felt well before I finished this off. Dated 1/23 on the bottom of the can, this was decent for being half a year old although there were some clumps of sediment that settled at the bottom of the liquid. If you like your New England IPA's to be oddly reminiscent of stone and exotic fruits and on the hefty side, this would suffice although it might leave you wanting for something more satisfying and representative of the style's essence.
