my first beer from front porch, a collaboration with skygazer, who i have never had a beer from either, this feels like more of those breweries who are not real breweries in the twelve percent portfolio, but here we go again anyway. one of their weirdest pours ive seen on a beer in awhile, a murky whitewashed pink tone, the guava staining a really starchy sedimented base, i see creamy particulate on the edges of the glass, huge bubbles, a yogurt smell, thick as they come, very poorly refined, but maybe thats the point, is there tapioca in this? the sourness is moderate and clean in the nose, surprisingly so, lactic but reserved, some natural tartness from the guava too, which is identifiable in here and pure to me, a little lemon note, and a sort of melted ice cream vibe too, maybe some vanilla, but not over the top sweet at all. the flavor is actually good, but i cannot separate it from the texture, which is so full of sediment that its gritty, at least in my half of the can, the bottom half, is this intentional? i complained to my wife who was drinking the first half and she didnt have the sandy bits, instead hers was enjoyably thick and creamy, probably poured a little too deep. its chewy, almost a graham cracker crust taste and texture to it, the guava is real but its also sort of creamy, and i so like what i taste, and even think its fairly faithful to the drink its named after, but this beer is just too poorly refined to be considered well done, and the inventive part does not trump the sloppiness to me, like some of the early shades sours, i appreciate what this is trying to do, and its definitely pushing the boundaries of kettle sours, but its just not really beer, not really very drinkable with all the sandy pieces in the texture, and its hard to imagine drinking more than one of these ever. even the edges of the glass look gross, how can this be on purpose? a little filtration would go a long way, because they have done cool stuff with the flavoring and the souring and the overall build of this, but objectively its a total mess at the same time...

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
