Huge IPA fan, especially west coast and hoppy non hazies. But man. This is barely drinkable. Great brewery, great people, fun location in Austin. The Fresh Coast is easily my least favorite IPA on the market. It’s heavy, leaves a milky bitter after taste that makes me want to just get up and leave. How this beer has lasted almost ten years is beyond me. The brewery is near a climbing gym and in a hip part of Austin so I’m assuming it’s alive based on non-beer drinkers who need a bev after a workout or from those bus loads of tourists that get dropped off there. It’s legit awful. Again great brewery. Bad brew.

Pours a clear, golden in color with a half inch of frothy foam atop. Not much lacing as you drink. Smell is soapy/floral hops and gum drops with a hint of alcohol and spice. Taste follows the nose pretty well. Floral, herbal spiciness up front followed by a grainy, biscuity middle and finishing bitter with lemon, grass, pine and grapefruit rind. Definitely very hop forward. Mouthfeel is medium with an oiliness. A little bit creamy with zesty carbonation. Pretty easy to drink. This one feels a little bit acidic in my stomach. The first one was honestly a bit hard to finish, but it got easier from there. Overall, not my favorite flavor profile for an IPA, but it's very decent and offers some complexity. Sure to please the hop heads. I generally prefer a bit more balanced/less acidic profile, but I would drink again if offered. Cheers!

This beer has strong low notes of really strong hops. The high notes of bright citrus is missing. I like this because of that. I like the change from the super bright IPAs.

For a 'fresh coast' IPA, this one was lackluster.
Amber color, moderate lacing, not quite clear but slightly opaque.
Smell is better than the other aspects, nice hops (simcoe? mosaic?) but not enough citrus or dank to satisfy.
Taste is lackluster, for being this bitter should be a lot more pine and citrus.
Overall it was quaffable but not one to repeat.
