a very well made ipa! i loved this place from an ambiance standpoint, and the beers were appropriately high quality, diverse, and delicious. i found this to be a rather sessionable take on a double ipa for a number of reasons. first, its just over 8% abv, not in the 10% or higher range where these start to taste alcohol and catch up with you quickly. second, its not overly bitter, so it doesnt become harsh or acrid when it warms up like a lot of the bitter bombs do. they hit a heat threshold and the whole thing falls apart, not here. finally, it doesnt taste to me like there are any adjunct sugars in here used to spike the abv, which sometimes are a little exposed, and yield a beer too sweet to drink much of. for all of those reasons, i really appreciate this one. its clear and bright golden in the stubby little glass (half pours for me in here so i could try more), with an inch of lasting white head on top. aroma and flavor are oily hops, west coast style, with a northwestern hop complexion, high enough alpha, a little bit piney, and finishing with a balanced citrus bitterness, delicious! perhaps not as unique as some are, but its perfectly brewed to style, real well balanced, and restrained in the right areas. the staff here is all obsessed with this one, and i can see why. it was my favorite of the beers we had in this awesome establishment!

Served in a tulip glass on draft. Nice, clear dark amber color with a small head. Smells of fresh hops; tastes like the same. The high ABV becomes more apparent toward the end of the glass, but for most of the drink it's relatively well hidden. Mouthfeel is thin. Malt is well-balanced and hops really take the stage. Overall, one of my go-to beers at Hygge.

On draft, in a smaller 10oz nonic glass
slightly hazy, golden color, nice white head. nice well rounded hop aroma. taste is fairly bitter, but decent hop flavor - enough malt flavor to balance. thin to medium bodied.
