Brewery Techne "Salad Gose"
16 fl. oz. can without production codes or freshness dating
Notes via stream of consciousness: I'm not sure what makes this a salad gose but the label has drawings of lettuce, tomato, and cucumber on it. The body is a hazy light straw gold and the short head of white foam dissipated immediately leaving nothing behind. The aroma is definitely vegetal. I get some I get what seems like fresh cut lettuce and tomato seeds. Personally I find it somewhat off-putting but others might like it. On to the taste then, it's not nearly as vegetal as the aroma suggests. It's there for sure but it's wrapped in sweet and tangy malt. Oddly I'm not finding cucumber as I'm usually very sensitive to it but I'm sure it's there. It's nicely balanced with sweet malt, tartness, and a little bit of salt. The vegetal character lingers lightly in the finish. In the mouth it's medium bodied and gently crisp. I think this would make a great beer in the summer at a backyard BBQ.
