22oz bottle poured into a chalice shows a deep, dark, brown like a view into the depths of hell's jungle. Even the carbonation is so rapt with fear that it's escape from the deep is audible, forming a 1/2in cocoa brown head that disippates in explosive fashion. Fear leaves no lacing.
Aroma is maple and bourbon forward.
Flavors match but neither overpowers the other. Just sweet enough, well balanced. Everyone obeys Asmodeus, or else, to create this elixir.
Mouthfeel is full and oily but not thick, and the finish is like Asmodeus' dinner plate: clean.
Overall a nice big beer that doesn't drink like 12% abv. Well hidden booze, even with the bourbon aroma and flavor it doesn't have a booze taste, just a slight warming in the chest.

22 ounce bottle into a snifter. Had 12/23/17.
Pours an oily looking and opaque dark brown, with no head and no lacing. Aromas of roasted malt, vanilla, maple, molasses, light bourbon and oak. The taste is malt- less roasted than the nose, bourbon, maple, caramel, light vanilla, a little smoky. Very smooth, a good full body, could use a little more carbonation.
Great flavor and aroma, a good amount of maple throughout. A little more carbonation would help the feel and look. Hope they make this next year.

Taste: rich, smooth, maple sweet, big malt with bourbon notes with some kick to slick finish. Semi sweet bold malt and maple nose. Black, opaque, no head but nice viscous film sticking to glass. Medium/Full body. This version makes an intense Imperial breakfast stout you could pour on pancakes. 60 IBUs

Love this RIS. The maple barrels really bonded well with the base stout. A delicious mix of sweet and bitter, good roasted malt presence. Maple is not overpowering, but allowed to be a star with other flavors complementing. Very dark and inviting from the first pour, though a little thin. Had both on tap at brewery and in bottle. Rewarding and delicious both ways! Very drinkable
