El Dorado, Citra, and Simcoe Hops come together for a complex, uncompromisingly bitter double IPA. Notes of tropical fruit and citrus with a smack of dank resinousness; this is Hops of No Light!

Hops of No Light, a collaboration between Metal Monkey Brewing and Prosthetic Records, brewed for the Decibel Metal and Beer Festival will silence the commoners.

16oz can, no apparent freshness date. Thanks to Derek for giving me a can to try. Rusty-caramel colored body is quite hazed and capped by a frothy breige head. Sweeter aroma than expected: caramel malt, grain, earthy pine, citrus. Bold flavors with a large malt backbone of caramel, toasted grain, bread crust, and rye perhaps; hops are bitter and earthy with notes of pine resin, grapefruit pith, and faint tropical fruit - Mandarin orange & mango along with an odd apple flavor that does not belong. Full body, quite resinous, alcohol is boozy and hot, finish is bittersweet with pine & alcohol lingering along with that weird tart apple that won't go away. Unfortunately , this is not very good.

Taste: big complex spiced hops, grapefruit, peppery, citrus notes. Tropical fruit hoppy nose. Bright amber hue, nice lacy head. Medium body. Malt balanced out some of the hop bitterness. 92 IBUs
