Poured into a tulip at the Blackback, the appearance was a ruddy burnt orange to brown color. Finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. The aroma had tropical sweet fruits up front bounced by a nice amount of cereal malts and then some citrus zest and rind to conclude the aroma underneath. The flavor follows suite as in the aroma, pretty much spot on and slides on into the aftertaste and finish sweetly. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a great sessionability about it. That 8 ABV doesn’t seem to sneak up anywhere, that’s nice. Carbonation feels good and fairly low. Overall, really nice DIPA that I would love to have again.

Unbelievable thick brew. It has the density of fresh squeezed grapefruit juice, with a real cloudy color. You find yourself looking in the glass for the pulp or for floaters like in Heady. This is Mark Babson's best brew to date in my opinion. But he hasn't brewed a bad beer yet. He's located just a stones throw from where Catamount got its start; before selling out to Harpoon. Tod Mott of Kate the Great fame got his start at Catamount. He now owns Tributary in Kittery, Maine. So my fellow beer nerd, geeks, and snobs; if your traveling in Vermont looking for Hills, Heady, SOS, or Foley Bros; you would be very smart to swing by River Roost in White River Junction, Vermont of a taste of RISE. Have I ever lied to you?

A: Hazy apricot in color with a thin, white, soapy head that dissipates quickly.
S: Peaches, pine, mangoes and OJ.
T: Has tropical fruit flavors, but not as pronounced as the aroma unfortunately. There's a sugary like sweetness as well.
M: Hops prickly to the tongue with a bitter and dry finish. Moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is a good beer, but it isn't their best. The aroma is excellent, but the taste and the body are lacking. Still better than most IPAs out there.

On tap in a shaker pint glass at Big Fatty's BBQ which is across the parking lot from the brewery.

Pours a straw/orange color. Very hazy. Thick foamy head on my first pour (which kicked on my pour), second pour off of new keg had thinner pure white foamy head that settled quickly into ring around my glass. A few floating foam islands.

Lots of resinous hop aroma, earthy and tropical. Pine resin, orange, mango.

The beer has a big tropical hop flavor followed by earthy resinous pine. Mild sweetness.

Full side of medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Another excellent hoppy brew from River Roost. This one may be the haziest yet. The hop aromas are big, bold and straight forward. Really tasty from start to finish.
