sampling a 16 oz cellar temp can poured into my snifter. date stamp is illegible, but batch says SI0L-002.
Picked this up at the brewery in July and its been in my cellar since then.
The beer pours a deep black coffee color with a thin beige head of .5 cm that fades away almost immediately and is nothing soon after the pour.
Aroma is roasted malts and some coffee grounds, also some sweet dark fruit, plum or raisin. I dont get much promised vanilla. Also no booze nor hops on the nose.
First sip reveals a medium body with very smooth and silky texture. Carbonation is soft and gentle and the beer does a little bit of coating after each sip. Flavor is some roasted malts and a bit of sweetened coffee with dark fruits again and a little brown sugar. No real vanilla here either.
No hops and booze is hidden. this is a very smooth easy drinking brew, I wish I had purchased more of these. very nice and drinkable for a big malt driven dark beer.

Pours a dark brown with no head retention. There's a fusel film that is layering the top of the beer. Coconut and raisin on the nose. It's coffee and coconut forward. A little bit of sweet sherry like booze character too. Some dried fig in there as well. I don't get much vanilla at all. The body is very silky. It's a good baltic porter, but underdelivers on the adjuncts.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
