A third of the way through a six-pack with a 101718 bottling date picked up at the Mount Vernon Supermarket this last weekend. Poured into a pint glass. A good looking brew, dark brown with redish highlights and a nice off white head that dwindles into a thin ring with significant lacing. On the other hand only a brief wiff of...I'm not sure what. Malt is present on the tongue along with more hop bitterness than others of this type I've experienced thus far. The feel starts well enough, but finishes...off...bitter and with an alcohol burn. NOT my favorite doppelbock.

12 oz bottle from the Wall of Beer (Clemson, SC; $2.59) with a 17 October 2018 bottling date stamp on the neck.
Pours clear, dark reddish brown with a short, and short-lived- tan head.
Aroma: malty and bit boozy.
Flavor: lightly sweet with a mildly bitter aftertaste. At least average strength. Good balance and true to style. 8% ABV is obvious.
Medium body and light carbonation.

Love me some E.A. Poe and have enjoyed Peabody's other offerings. Pours a dark chocolate, with a brief head and a molasses and raisin based nose with a hint of dark fruit..
Chewy mouthfeel with notes of coffee and fudge with a smooth, velvety finish. Not amazing, but a lot to like here. .

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Pours black with slight reddish tint with a small light brown head that dissipates quickly. Smells of caramel and chocolate, not as strong as expected. Tastes of dark grain, not much else. Beer is medium bodied and fairly easy drinking. Overall, an above average beer.

Light brown in color. When held up to the light, is becomes somewhat translucent. Raisin, cola, caramel and fennel. Toasted caramel malt. Thinner bodied. Bitter finish. Solid double boch.

This is a sewer dopplebock. I would prefer it have more carbonation to cut through some of the cloying mouthfeel. It is tasty, but can barely get through one because of sweetness.

This seems massively under carbonated - not only is there no real head but there just aren't much in the way of bubbles. This is my second bottle with that issue and maybe it's just a quality control on these, but it kinda kills it. The flavor isn't bad outside of that, though.

12 oz. bottle poured into a narrow mug.
Pours a deep clear mahogany with about one finger of head that didn't hang around long. Not much of a nose, caramel and base malts were all I could make out. Sticky sweet up front it moves into dark fruit with some alcohol presence before drying at the finish with a slight burn. Medium bodied with carbonation to the high side of medium.
It's OK. I liked these at first but am growing tired of the sticky sweetness.

Dark brown color, but clear with some ruby highlights. Aroma of toffee and caramel. Taste is slightly sweet, similar flavors. Medium bodied, coats the tongue.

On tap at the BNA Party last week. Deep ruby brown color with a stingy off white head. Rich syrupy fruitiness with some burnt caramel and hint of alcohol. Pretty nice dopplebock.
