Collaboration with Aslin Beer Company
Brewed in collaboration with friends Aslin Beer Co in Virginia. This IPA is brewed with Eldorado, Simcoe, Mosiac and Citra hops. A soft mouthfeel leads into a heavy profile of tropical fruits and hoppy bitterness.

Right out the gate, I know this is gonna be the rare positive rate deviation for me. I loved this beer and would buy mass quantities if I could. But instead, big ups to fellow poobah reviewers extraordinaire jlindros & rudzud for hooking this can up. Consumed around Halloween 2018.
While the appearance wasn't all that sexy, geez would you look at that pro wrestling NES can? Childhood memories, activated. I beat Great Puma with both King Slender, Star Man, Giant Panther and Fighter Hayabusa. Anyways, dull cloudy, hazy yellow pour, 1/3" white head. Popped hard on the hop aromatics, Citra and Mosaic seemed to be the most prominent bringing that one two punch of tropical and citrus notes.
Taste, eminently crushable. Lots of hop flavor without resorting to too fluffy of a body. You can pretty much name a bunch of sweeter citrus and tropical fruits at this point for the tasting notes, its quite the medley. Carbonation good. Would repeatedly buy this if I could.

Pours a bright gold color, cloudy with a one finger fizzy off-white head that settles quickly.
Aroma is rich up front with semi-sweet orange, pineapple and maybe a little peach. This fades with time into a pine/citrus blend with a touch of something tropical.
Flavor has similar hop notes that feel a bit confused - maybe competing with each other but none win. There is a moderate bitterness at the finish that pushes all that out of the way - a bit heavy handed IMO. The body feels a little "hollow", like it is missing something.
Feel is soft and a little effervescent and leaves a mild bitterness in the mouth at the end mixed with a little grapefruit.
The Aslin name drew me in to buy it and I think they introduced a bit of hop finesse into this because it is a different hop profile than the typical out of ML. However the rest of the process seems to not have jibed as much. Good to see Aslin up here but I want to see a better collab honestly.

Collaboration with Aslin, maybe the best name/label combination I've ever seen in a beer! Canned 8/09/18
Pours a decent fizzy bubbly 1 finger head that fades at a med pace, touch of lacing, super murky pale orange color
Nose loads of citrus, juicy tangerine, tons of orange juice, pith, mango puree, pineapple, papaya, pineapple, decent creamy base malt, a little wheaty dough, safe to say a hoj poj of tropical and citrus fruits
Taste a bit too much on the gristy wheaty malt, papery pulp and toasted cracker thing, a bit much there, but hops again are a big bowl of fruit punch, all of the same fruits, tangerine, orange juice, pineapple, mango, ruby red grapefruit, papaya, etc etc, hops turning a little spicy and fairly bitter late, drier finish a bit more pulp
Mouth is med bod, a bit creamy soft juicy, decent carb
Overall not bad, great hops, malts were a little too much in the gristy wheaty doughy grainy etc department, not sure what else went in there but it's a bit distracting. Even if the beer was mediocre it would have been worth it for the label alone, but the beer was actually pretty good so win win win!

Picked up a four pack of this at the brewery. Absolutely phenomenal label.
A - Poured into my Duvel tulip a nice hazy orange golden hue with a big almost three finger creamy white head that fades tremendously slowly to leave very sticky side lacing and a dense creamy blanket.
S - Aromas of citrus peel and orange zest, juicy oranges, some slight grassy hops. Decent amount of Mosaic going on with flashes of earthy pine. Nice floral notes, not much tropical.
T - Taste is similar to the nose fair amount of citrus peel and zest. There is a decent amount of Mosaic hops here, earthy pine pushes past everything else but thankfully there are none of the vegative onion notes that most of the time accompany that. The finish is quite bitter and resinous with maybe just a bit of dankness.
M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, medium bodied. The carbonation is so light it's almost flat. Thankfully it has body or else this would be pretty poor.
O - Overall this started off pretty killer. Awesome appearance but the mosaic on the nose and taste really dominates unfortunately. The carbonation, or lack thereof, really threw me for a loop.

Don’t really get the Citra hops on this one and the pine/sap taste is a bit overwhelming. Super soft taste in the beginning but gets a bit more bitter as time passes.
