A- Midnight black tar body from the tallboy into a snifter. A one inch creamy and frothy dark cocoa tan head rises up with pretty good retention. Rare patches of lacing.
S- Can smell this thing from three feet away right upon opening the can. The chocolate and raspberries are strong and come together like a really nice truffle or brownie with raspberry compote. The vanilla is a bit on the subtle side beyond the cocoa and raspberry. Suggests tart berries, caramel, cocoa nibs, coffee, roast barley and some sweetness.
T- The roast grains and chocolate gain some steam on the raspberries and the vanilla folds into the fray like it would in a dessert, somewhat in the backdrop but complimentary to the berries and cocoa. Brownie dessert and cocoa powder, espresso, toasted nuts, caramel, chocolate truffles and roast barley. Berries are fresh and bright bringing and authentic rasp' flavor and suggesting a hint of tartness. Chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream and raspberry compote. Impressively not overly sweet as the chocolate and roast grains provide some balance and bitterness.
MF- Thick and really, really luscious brew. Creamy and frothy texture and a high level of carbonation. Just sits on the palate so softly with a bit of an oily slickness. Lightly bitter, sweet ending.
A dessert stout that brings a high ABV and bold flavors while riding the line between sweet and cloying without offending. Really like a dessert as vanilla ice cream, bitter cocoa brownies and raspberry topping comes to mind. Awesome balance.
