Sometimes you gotta Shake things up. The luscious combination of Nelson, Simcoe, and Citra hops in this Hazy Double IPA is a rush. Big citrus notes and a balanced juicyness that could wake up a skeleton.

Picked up a single can at Curtis Liquors in Cohasset, Massachusetts for about four dollars. My seventeenth brew from these guys. Canned on date of 9/24/24, so tasted it's age.

Pours a hazy golden orange with two fingers of foamy head that slowly dissipates to a thin ring with some lacing. Aroma of grapefruit with a trace of pine. Taste follows nose. Nice bitterness.

Nice, solid representation of a hybrid west/east coast combo that I can actually get behind. I typically enjoy one or the other, but all the in-betweens I've tried so far have been a miss till this one. Good hop presence yet pretty smooth.

Pours sunny orange with a pleasant haze. Three inches of glistening white froth caps the StrangeBird IIPA glass. The head slowly turns rocky as it settles, leaving a fluffy pillow and large patches of lace.
The aroma opens with grapefruit pith and equally strong wet pine straw. The background is filled with ripe melon and tropical fruit. The fruit is vibrant even though it is secondary.
This is clearly more of a West Coast inspired IPA than anything else. Strong bitterness comes with a quick, albeit brief, burst of sweetness, followed by dry bitterness. Apricot and pineapple show up first, with grapefruit pith taking over. The finish is long and bitter, just shy of harsh. Overall, there is an earthiness in the finish mixed with grass.
Carbonation immediately asserts its presence in a modest and prickly manner. It has a full body and a texture of denim. Alcohol shows its strength without heat or harshness. The alpha bitterness has a numbing sensation on the gums.
This is a well done IIPA with all the hallmarks expected of the aroma, flavor, and palate. It will pair well with Thai curry on a warm sunny day, however, I enjoyed it very much in an armchair on a cold dreary November afternoon.

From a 16 ounce can dated 10/12/21. Sampled Nov 11, 2021.
The appearance is a hazy and pulpy looking orange-amber color underneath a moderate, lasting creamy white head.
Citrus and tropical hops abound in the aroma with an emphasis on grapefruit and oranges. Lower profile oatmeal base. Very low booziness.
Medium-full mouthfeel.
The taste begins sweet and then heads toward a dank sort of bitter tropical finish. Alcohol is slightly more prevalent in the taste. Very typical for the NEDIPA style.

CAN
Milky dirty blonde with steady clinging white head; fresh cut pineapple, orange rind + pine needle on the nose with a hint of hop burn; papaya sorbet, bits of grapefruit + passionfruit, threads of dank, cat + evergreen, and peach to end; creamy, tingly, no bitterness, slight burn.

April canning, so in the 4 month zone - didn’t get to this one as quick as I could have.
And it’s suffered on one level - there’s a gentle brightness to the tropical that I suspect would be more intense if this were a month old. Delicate grape character of Nelson, especially, is missing.
On the other hand, I may have dodged a bullet - there’s a hop sweatiness and a whisper of vegetal astringency that might be worse if this were freshest. The Citra + Simcoe are strong in this one.
A joy ride that I suspect is more of a blitzkrieg when fresh, for better or worse.
