All the Way Up is our way of showcasing the height of fruit expression in our sour ales. We've worked hard to lock in our favorite fruit combinations, creating a series of flavor-packed, easy-to-drink yet always revolving options.

Expect bold, juicy citrus notes and a mellow tropical sweetness from passion fruit. Sourness is subtle and balanced in this beer, reminiscent of a crisp, tangy bite of a fresh tangerine. Contains lactose sugar.

Poured from 16oz tall can into my BeerAdvocate teku. Canned 5/3/20.

Appearance: medium golden-orange hue with a moderate haze and a fairly prominent effervescence. head is a finger of fizzy ivory foam; not too bad.

Smell: a quick, sharp sourness followed by a rather prominent passionfruit character. The tangerine follows it up nicely, though, for a rather refreshing aroma.

Taste: light-to-moderate sourness, plus a fairly high sweetness, make the fruit flavors here particularly candylike. The passionfruit also brings an earthiness that works quite well. I think its quite delightful indeed.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a light carbonation and fizz. Not the worst; not the best.

Overall: this thing is ridiculously refreshing and drinkable. Of course, it's ludicrously hot out right now, so maybe that's part of it; however, this beer has all the hallmarks of a crushable summer quaff.

About a week and a half ago, I had my very first sour beer from Mast Landing called Mango Treetops. Yeah, that's right, I'd somehow avoided drinking and reviewing any of the All the Way Up series until just this very moment, and this one is poised to really impress with a unique combination of citrus and tropical fruits. Tangerine/passion fruit sour with lactose? I'm in, especially considering how good Mango Treetops was.

Pour here is not impressive, but I kinda expected that. A non-hoppy quick sour with lactose is pretty much a cut-and-dry recipe for a boring pour, and, yep... that's about right. A decent orange-tinged hue gets topped off quickly by a small, bubbly head that sinks down to nonexistence just about instantaneously. Medium hazy without much carbonation activity to speak of, no lace or legs either. This may be one of those beers you just crush from the can, cuz it's pretty unattractive.

The nose, luckily, is excellent. Downright tropical and juicy with a big hit of passion fruit, tangerine, guava, ripe mango, and grapefruit, topped off with some light notes of wheat and subtle sweetness from the lactose addition. I appreciate that it doesn't really ever get "cereal-y" like some of these beers can get, though; this is certainly almost 100% about the fruit, and I respect that.

Great flavor profile, almost like juice as expected, with a tangy flavor profile upfront that really highlights the tangerine aspect. The passion fruit feels a little more lost here somehow, but it still tastes quite good. I just think it feels a little more like mango or guava personally. Perhaps that's nit-picking, but I've had a lot of passion fruit sours that really flaunt the particular exotic flavor of this fruit, and this is not a beer that I think does that element very well. That said, the feel here is just awesome, and the level of tartness is about exactly where I'd want it to be. They balanced this with the lightly-sweet/heavier lactose aspect very well, which is a feat because I've also had some terrible lactose-driven sour beers. I will definitely have to look into future ATWU series beers, and now kinda regret passing up past ones. In fact, I might get more of this if it's available still next time I go to the store. It's just crushable and fun as hell!
