Beat everyone to the punch on this one somehow, despite this being canned a bit more than a month ago on 2/11/21. Interesting, but I guess these guys do put out a lot of beers (especially IPAs like this one), so a few are bound to fall through the cracks here and there, eh? HTF is a 7.8% ABV IPA (I have a personal code not to call any IPA under 8% a "double," FYI) featuring a bevy of fun hops: Citra, Mosaic, Idaho 7, and El Dorado are the name of the game here, and I'm hoping they combine into a satisfying and enjoyable drink.

The pour here is quite great, even though it's mostly typical looking for a hazy IPA from MLBC. A bit more turbid and less vibrant than some of their others, but what it lacks in saturation upon first pour it more than makes up for in amazing head formation and retention, as well as lace and solid legs. This thing just looks nice in my glass, with a couple fingers of white foam clinging tightly to the orange-hued body of the beer, leaving behind consistent patterns of lacing. Very nice.

The nose is surprisingly great, and I really only say that because I was concerned how Idaho 7 and Mosaic would come across together as well as with the fact that this is more than a month old. I've been a little burned here and there recently by IPAs falling off way sooner than they probably should, honestly, so it's nice that this one still feels punchy. I get huge resinous elements right off the bat, with backing notes of guava, tangerine flesh, and mango, backed up by some light redcurrant and raspberry fruitiness. El Dorado is providing a nice pineapple/light melon thing here as well; feels like it's working well with the other hops, which is what it tends to do best in recipes like this one.

Super solid on the tongue with a characterful blast of fresh grapefruit, passion fruit, mango, and lychee immediately switching to a mid-palate coating of resin and guava-like tropical flavors. A bit more melon toward the finish, and hints of spice/earthiness as dankness comes out in a very Mosaic-driven fashion. Almost a hint of green onion, but it stops just short of being vegetal and switches to fruit gum-like esters. Moderate, non-lingering bitterness with a medium body and soft carbonation. ABV is not overly-detectable either, so this one sits comfortably among the better IPAs I've had from these guys lately. Worth it, and not just because I'm the first to rate it... though that never hurts for the hipster cred, I guess. Shrug.
