Oh my! I loved this. Mast makes some fine brews and this is a new one for me. I bought just one to try and now I will head to the Liquor Locker here in SW Harbor and buy a 4 pack.

This may be the best chocolate hazelnut stout ever. From a can about 1 month old.
Appearance is opaque dark brown/black, with a thin head.
Smell is strongly nutty, chocolate, hazelnut, roast.
Feel is rich, moderately thick, with a slight astringency/bite.
Taste follows the smell. Rich, velvety, luxurious chocolate, hazelnut, heavy overall nutty flavor. It’s almost a chocolate hazelnut milkshake. Definitely does not drink like 10% ABV.
Goes down very easy. Wish I bought more.

I bought some of these cans at the members only event at Mast Landing in Freeport about 6 weeks ago. Cans have been in my fridge since then. Sampling a cold 16 oz can poured into my trusty snifter.
The beer pours a jet black color with dense tan head of about 1 cm. This foam fades to a sturdy edge layer and creates scattered lattice when I swirl. Also one large island of bubbles in the center of my glass.
Aroma is rich and malty with some caramel and loads of nutty hazelnut. not really sweet nutty character, more of the husky scent, very appealing to me.
First sip reveals a medium to thicker body with a soft silky texture and gentle rolling carbonation. The beer leaves a light coating on my lips and palate, but doesnt feel sticky as I drink it.
Flavor is a bit of milk chocolate, some hints of caramel and again a good dose of hazelnut. Not sweet nut flavors, more husky nuttiness. I do get more caramel and some toffee on the finish. Hops absent, no hint of ABV and this beer drinks dangerously easy.
I do love hazelnut in a beer and probably more than 50% of the time it doesnt come off well. this one works!
Very glad to have tried this one and will look forward to drinking each of the additional cans in my fridge!

Poured into a 16 oz tulip glass canned on 10/08/21. Pours near pitch black with a 2 finger sticky mocha head that leaves some thick streaks of lace with excellent retention. 4.75
Aroma is pretty simple and one dimensional but in the best way possible. Cocoa nibs, vanilla beans, hazelnut, and a whiff of coffee. 4.75
Taste follows chocolate, vanilla, hazelnut, and a little coffee. 4.75
Mouthfeel is above average for sure, maybe a little dry, soft creamy carbonation, and at 10% it might drink even bigger but really approachable. 4.75
Overall this has a serious wow factor, really amazing stuff. 4.75 Cheers Mast Landing Brewing Company and Barreled Souls Brewing Company brewed a gem here.
