The beer has a strong amber color that's stands out in today's market compared to NEIPA's. The top of the head has very good looking white foam residue that is long lasting.

Smell almost has a barley like character to me. Malt notes are also present along with somthing a little musty like dark grapes or damp wood?

Taste has a lot more of that mustiness. This Ale is not very hoppy or bitter but isn't too sweet either. The grapish note I smelled makes up most of the after taste which I really like. The flavor is good but it could be a little more interesting.

Mouth feel is light and not far from being mostly flat.

Overall: a solid Ale in a style we don't see to much of in craft breweries. Flat caps off to Mast Landing for giving this style some love. Drink Solidus with some haggis and you won't regret it.

Canned 2021/12/07
Pours a fizzy off-white foamy almost 1 finger head with fair retention, semi clear auburn to med rosy color

Nose semi sweet toasted biscuity malts, a bit of cereal grain, toasted sweet bread crust, hint of caramel and toffee like notes, and a bit nutty, touch fruity malt-derived esters, light floral herbal hop notes

Taste brings more sweet malts, sweet flavors but not super sweet, toffee, caramel, nutty, caramelized toasted bread crust, biscuity, a bit more malt-derived fruity esters but hard to pinpoint, med-light bitterness with an herbal slight earthy hop flavor, hint of butterscotch like as well, semi sweet mild sticky finish

Mouth is med to a bit fuller bod, med frothy carb, bordering syrupy like

Overall not bad, typical Scottish single style pretty well done, no complaints

sampling a 16 oz can at cellar temp. Picked up at the brewery in October and canned on date stamp is 9/27/21.
Pouring into my .5L dimple mug. Beer is a clear chestnut color with fizzy beige head of 1 cm. This foam fades to a wispy surface layer and dense edging. Some scattered lattice on the glass when I swirl.
Aroma is caramel and toffee maybe a little brown sugar, but no hops on this nose. Nose is sort of on the mild side overall.
First sip reveals a medium body with fine tingly carbonation and a silky smooth texture. The beer is a little sticky on my lips but doesnt feel thick or viscous at all.
Flavor is similar to the nose I get caramel, toffee and brown sugar. I also get a bit of a fruity cherry flavor in the background, although that may actually be almond extract note. No hint of any booze and the hops are absent.
Beer is easy to drink, seems spot on for the style and is enjoyable. Glad I have some more in the cellar.
