16 ounce can poured into a tulip
Pours a very clear pale straw color with very little head, looks under carbonated, no retention, some particles floating in the beer. Decent amount of hop aroma like cantaloupe, melon, pineapple, guava, light notes of pine and grapefruit as well, not as aromatic as I was expecting but the hops are still popping. Tastes follows the nose with tropical notes like melon, pineapple, and guava along with grapefruit and pine, high grapefruit-peel like bitterness, finish has a touch of honey sweetness that really doesn't balance the beer out. Medium bodied with lots of bitterness and a slightly dry finish, leaves a raked feeling on the palate.
A solid IIPA collaboration with Pizza Port. It could use a little more malt and honey to balance out the bitterness but if you like tropical and bitter IIPA, then reach for this as it has tropical notes up front with high bitterness in the middle and a touch of honey sweetness in the finish.
