March 2013: Porter #1, 500 ml bottle, from the brewery. Brew #80. ABV is 4.5%. Unfiltered and unpasteurised. Malts are Maris Otter pale, amber, brown, rye, crystal and chocolate, hops are East Kent Goldings and Challenger, British ale yeast. Very dark brown colour, nearly black. Moderate tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate, some woody notes, a vinous hint. Dry and roasty flavour, woody notes, coffee and dark chocolate. Dry and moderately bitter finish.
