Brewed in collaboration with Goldfinger Brewing Co.
Ever since Goldfinger got started, we’ve admired their lager program. Tbh, everything we’ve ever tried from them has been top notch. They’re doing some great work out in Downers Grove and we really recommend taking a trip to their taproom. It’s

Murky golden body with a big white head and thin lacing. Hop and yeast interaction is the name of the game here. In the smell I get plenty of tropical notes and orange with the grainy and bready yeast. Taste has elevated cracker and lime with the orange dancing amongst the yeast. Feel is the best aspect, full and yeast with an elegant smoothness, but then the hops cut through with their bitters, well balanced and dries out through the sip with a certain frothiness that is appreciated.

Canned 7/1/22; drank 8/1/22 @ the Yarchives.
See-through pale yellow appearance.
A rough pour yielded a nice bright white head; a thick curtain of tree-rung lace.
Melon, orange peel & faint vanilla notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Melon (faintly tart?), dry orange peel & faint mint flavors.
Fruity but dry; nicely balanced. I'd have another!

Pours a slightly cloudy, but mostly clear golden color. Thick frothy white head forms on the beer, lingers, then dissipates until just a thin layer of foam remains on the top of the beer. Aroma has notes of tropical fruits, some spicy, peppery hop notes and a touch of woody, lemon lime notes. Quite bright and lovely.
Taste follows the nose with notes of light crackery, pilsner malts giving way to a mixture of New Zealand hops - lemon lime, woody, white wine - and some spicy noble hops. Very clean and very hop forward - so what you would expect from an IPL. Feel is light to medium bodied, crisp, easy drinking, and refreshing. Semi-dry finish.
Overall the influence of Goldfinger is obvious in this one. Too many of Hopewell's lagers have this harsh grainy quality - this one is very clean and nice. An enjoyable beer.
