3/1/26 - (Home) (Chicago, Illinois) Can Notes: Purchased a single 16 oz can at Beer on the Wall at store temperature on February 5, 2026 for $3.98 including tax. Canned 1/28/26 @ 1:11:16 PM. 5.0% ABV Polish Style Lager. Zimne Piwo. Logan Square, Chicago. Polonia USA. The Hopewell Brewing Company of Chicago, Illinois.
Appearance: Poured close to half the can into a tall slender Pilsner flute glass, yielding a crystal clear golden straw base, generous bright white bubbly head that lingers for a couple minutes before leaving soapy lacing and a full creamy cover over the base. Slow light though sustained carbonation. 4.50
Aroma: Lubelski hops delivering cracker, salt, pepper, lemongrass, grass and mineral water. Medium plus strength higher enjoyment. 4.25
Taste: Consistent with the aroma though even stronger. Cracker, a little honey flavor, pepper, mineral water, light salt ,lemongrass in that order. All blend well together. 4.25
Mouthfeel: Drinks light and easy, below the 5.0% ABV. Carbonation faintly prickly and persistent throughout. Light crisp body, faint bitterness, mildly dry, everything in perfect balance for the style. Cracker pepper salt finish. 4.5
Overall: This is a very good Polish lager, strong flavors, everything blends well and is enjoyable. Nice balance, no excess sweetness. This is a must order in the future. 4.5

I enjoy Polish culture, so a Poland-inspired beer is right up my alley. From a tall red can, this one is a straw colored liquid....moderately hazy with a slightly off-white head. The aroma is grassy with a Nobel hop aroma and a little malt underneath. The taste is balanced, with an earthy, floral flavor. Medium in body and drinkable. Nice.

Bright gold with ample foam that puffs over the rim like a little fluffy cloud. A soufflè with a halo of drippy lacing all around.
Aroma of grassy noble hops, pilsner malt, library books.
Grassy noble hop bitterness, resiny and lingering. Doughy and floral middle. Water profile is soft like well water, faithful to style. Smooth and creamy texture. Grainy and grassy hop finish, zero corn or skunk.
Overall it’s highly drinkable and demands gulps. Two pints at a minimum. Fantastic with dried Polish kabanosy sausage.

16 oz can into a pint glass. Clear pale golden color with a medium-sized dense white head. Pungent malty, funky aroma. Similar taste, but more mellow and more on the funky side. Still enjoyable. Medium-light feel.

Canned 2/24/25; drank 3/17/25 @ the Yarchives.
See-through dull yellow appearance.
A rough pour yielded a small bright white head; a thick curtain of tree-rung lacing remained.
Corn & faint skunk notes in the nose.
Smooth medium mouthfeel.
Sweet corn & sharp pine flavors.
The nose was a bit off, but it tasted alright. It'll do in a pinch.
