On tap at Iconnyc Brewing, Queens, NY.
Pours a hazy sunset orange color. A minimal head quickly dissipates.
The nose immediately hints at the tartness to come. Fruity aromas of lulu, tangelo, grapefruit, lemon and lime. Sour notes of lactobacillus and peppery yeast.
Very tart with a mouth puckering acidity. Flavors of lulu, tangelo, grapefruit, lemon and lime provide zesty notes. These are supported by a firm chewy and doughy malt backbone that even hints at some sweetness. The finish is bone dry and sour.
Despite the low ABV, the body is medium with a malt fullness. The tart and acidic flavors give the mouthfeel a zesty sting. The carbonation is lively. Very refreshing.
Nice example of a fruited Berliner Weisse. It’s mouth puckering acidity provides a nice kick, while the fruity adjuncts help take the edge off and provide flavor.
