What do a snake, a wolf, and a death goddess all have in common? They're all the children of the trickster god Loki. What do Banana, Cacao, Maple Syrup, Vanilla, small batch coffee, and 13.5% ABV all have in common They're all a part of this THICCC banana pancake inspired pastry stout. While the children of Loki may not have gotten along so well, the different adjuncts in this stout meld together into a reminder of early mornings, stacks of pancakes covered in maple syrup and banana, and warm cups of coffee.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass with a thin, fizzy, khaki head that dissipates completely, leaving tiny specks of what I think are cacao nubs; with slight lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, molasses, dark chocolate, licorice and vanilla. Flavor is dark toasted malt, rich cocoa, vanilla and mild coffee. Faint suggestions of banana, maple and caramel in the finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess and carbonation, despite the headless pour. Definitely a pastry stout character, like chocolate cake batter. The initial taste is somewhat muddled, but chocolatey with interesting additional flavors that are hard to parse out. The finish and aftertaste reveal some of the adjunct flavors, such as banana and faintly, maple and coffee. The latter isn't listed on the can, but there is a hint of it. Despite the busy additional additives, the basic flavor is quite nice and full of chocolate and vanilla character. A fine dessert / pastry stout that I would get again.

Poured hard from a tall can into a snifter glass, forming a ton of fizzy brown head that soon faded to intense lacing that left residue on the glass for the entire drink. Some noticeable solids at the bottom of the can. Deep brown/black color. Smell is a mix of chocolate, banana, and coffee, interesting mix. Taste is a pretty even blend of a coffee background, chocolate and a bit of maple up front, with a after taste of banana and maple. Maybe some vanilla in the background, but hard to tell when everything melds together. Sweet, but not quite a dessert beer. Medium to thick bodied with light carbonation. A very impressive stout, but strange they don't label coffee in the mixture of flavors.
