Poured into a Stone Gargoyle flute. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque in the glass, with a half finger milk chocolate head with good retention and slippery lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, maple syrup, cocoa, bourbon and vanilla. Flavor is dark toasted malt, maple syrup, bourbon. oaky vanilla, barrel wood, coffee and chocolate. Bourbony maple chocolate bar finish. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess; nice mouth feel. Although a bit hot and bourbon forward, there is an excellent maple syrup element and good vanilla and chocolate. The maple and vanilla are well balanced; the coffee faint. A hefty and deeply flavored barreled stout and a worthy tenth anniversary beer.
