Review from notes. 500 ml bottle served cold into a pint glass. LCBO purchase for around $5 CDN.
Appearance - Super hazy rich golden color with orange hues. Juice like. A finger plus of brilliant white head is poured and lingers a while.
Smell - Some tropical fruits like pomegranate, guava and orange with a certain lemony sharpness.
Taste - Quite fruity, a little sweeter than expected with juicy tropical flavors. Some sourness comes in at the end, but sweeter in general than most in the style.
Mouthfeel - Medium light bodied, carbonation is middling finish is dry yet also a touch sticky.
Overall - Pretty good wild ale that leans on the sweeter side of things, but overall rather enjoyed this.

From a 500ml bottle served almost straight from the fridge at 8 degrees Celsius into a TeKu glass. Packed on June 21, 2018 – making this just two weeks old. I picked this one up from the LCBO a few days ago. I haven't had any Elora beers yet since I've always missed the fresh bottles. My expectations are average because I don't know anything about Elora.
Look: The beer pours a murky amber (orange) with 4.5cm of dense, white head that dissipates into a solid cap within 3+ minutes. Poor lacing with good head retention. It looks like juice...
Smell: Moderate strength and sharp. Fruity-sour and juice-like. Notes of sweet orange and guava along with a doughy-bready malt (I'd guess rye). Moderate acetaldehyde – especially as a volatile.
Taste: Moderate strength with sharp-ish balance and low perceived bitterness. The tart palate opens up fruity (citrus) with a soft acidity that makes way for a pronounced guava, some pome fruit, and a bready-doughy malt (again, rye). The medium length finish is faint and balanced with notes of fruit (guava + pome fruit) and the aforementioned malt along with some acidity.
Feel: Medium body with medium-low carbonation. Creamy and puckering with no apparent alcohol warming, astringency, or harshness of any kind. I wouldn't mind a bit more carbonation.
Overall: Elora's Lodestar is not a bad beer per se but it needs work in terms of balance and off-flavours. The acetaldehyde needs to go and as much as I like guava, it overwhelms the more subtle fruit character. I think the malt is ok but I wonder if there's another – more subtle – approach? Having said that, this may very well be a brew to try if you're unsure about sour beers. It's quite soft with decent flavour and I could see this being liked by the crowds. However, in its current state, I wouldn't buy it again.
