a tasty and summery blackberry sour, but really on the grand scale of things not particularly high quality or inspired to me, if its whole fruit i would be surprised, the souring is fine but its not super tidy, and the carbonation sags a little, kind of an introductory sour, which there is definitely a place for in the world, but i wanted a little more from this one after being impressed with obvious improvements in other recent beers. this has a muted but still sort of electric pink tone to it, no head at all from the tap, and some bubbles on the edges of the glass. it smells more generically fruity than blackberry specifically, hints of raspberry and blueberry to it too, a little sweet but also a little faded, same is true in the taste, lots to like but also some weirdness, the sourness level is right on, not too acidic but tangy enough to compliment the berries, but there is a slight sweatiness to it, a less than fully clean back end that gets worse as it warms, and its hard to appreciate much grain in the flavor although there is some wheaty malt body here. overall its decent but not spectacular, could use more finishing dryness and carbonation, but its neat to see these guys branching into sours and i expect this to trend upward in quality over time like the rest of their stuff has. strange they serve it in a pint too, i never love that for sour beer, but it suits this one for some reason...
