neat beer here, a honey cream ale apparently made with honey from the new owners apiary, which is rad. they call it a cross between a cream ale and a wit, but this doesnt really present as belgian to me, wheat based sure, but its a cool little summer beer where the honey really shines, pretty well refined stuff, drinkable and flavorful, sweet, but its a honey beer, not out of place for me and not limiting, not over the top. golden colored brew, not all the way clear but pretty clean looking anyway, average white head from the tap stays frothy and fades only slowly. aroma on this is floral honey, definitely in the wildflower type, somewhat herbal, light citrus, lavender maybe, and i do get a hint of vanilla here, wonder if some is added, its that apparent to me, nice cereal malt base underneath, perhaps light spiciness but certainly nowhere near normal belgian yeast levels, could all be nuances of the honey in here. the flavor is similar, herbal with some bitterness offsetting the obvious honey sweetness, but there is pretty full spectrum honey start to finish with this, vanilla is also apparent, white pepper, nutty wheat malt, a hint of sweet orange, very summery, some decent body to it too, sort of lathery, well carbonated, and hearty in a way thats nice with the honey. smooth and long without being heavy. nice beer, ive enjoyed much of their recent innovation and think these guys are headed in a good direction after the recent changes. i hope they do more with this honey, what a cool thing to have associated with the brewery!
