Very nice lager... though more of a pilsner style. Pours straw colored yellow with very little head (though an initial finger or so). Great, refreshing taste - subtle hops and balanced malt. Seek this out!

From the 650 ml. bottle with a handwritten 712 on the label. Not sure if this is a bottling date of a bottle number. Sampled on July 23, 2017 so unless this is a very old bottle -it is not retired.
The color of the pour is golden with modest carbonation leading up to an off-white foamy head. Good clarity.
The aroma is sweet with a focus on caramel and toffee malts. There might even be some vanilla in the aroma. A low to no hop profile.
Smooth, medium to full body.
The taste is incredibly sweet, roasted and malty with a near absent mild bitterness at the finish. I think to be appropriate for the style it should have been lighter and toastier.

This was poured into a stange. The appearance was a semi-hazy / semi-burnt bronzed orange color with a slim white little head that dissipated at a nice pace. Carbonation could be seen rising at a nice pace. Semi-foamy bubbly lacing roamed around the glass. The smell took on a dried sweet corn, light sweet lemon. The taste was basically the same with the dry sweet corn aftertaste running into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a nice sessionable feel. Overall, as a kolsch, this one works. Hogback did another fine job for this style!
